Second Edition BSS Essential Guide

The Boat Safety Scheme - HomeThe BSS Essential Guide can now be ordered online at the waterscape.com shop Guide and folders

This is the Guide for privately owned, private managed craft. You can download the individual chapters appropriate for your craft. However please take time to read Chapter 1, the introduction as it explains how the Guide is set out and the information it contains is arranged. It also explains what craft are in scope of the BSS requirements. Part 6, in particular, 'portable fire extinguishers' applies to all craft in scope.

The Guide has been produced in full colour, as one means to enable us to give greater emphasis on the status for each set of information. If you wish to print your downloads in black & white, please remember you may need to change your printer's settings to 'greyscale'. The downloads are taken directly from the printers proofs. They include illustrations and photographs. To reproduce these with suitable definition means that some of the files below are up to 300K. This can result in some relatively slow downloading, for example, using a fairly ordinary specification computer with MS Internet Explorer 6.0 connected to cable broadband, Chapter 1 takes around 50 secs including launching Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0. If you are using a dial-up connection you will expect this download time to be longer.
