June 05 - Self-builds and Sailaways
With the increasing popularity of 'DIY' boat-builds and fit-outs, the BSS has produced a two page information sheet that outlines some of the key points linked to the regulations and requirements of the Recreation Craft Directive and their impact on the self-builder. It also covers briefly the implications for licensing or registering such craft on most inland waterways.
April 2005 - As part of the Boat Safety Scheme modernisation, the technical requirements for privately-owned boats have been re-visited to ensure they remain efficient and effective in managing risks. Until the new Guide is finalised, we recommend preparing your boat to the 2002 BSS requirements and use this download to be aware of any changes that may affect your boat.
