 | In conjunction with the Solid Fuel Association, the BSS is warning boaters using solid fuel stoves to keep a close eye on lit appliances in order to prevent accidental 'over firing' incidents. Over firing can easily happen when a stove begins to 'race', usually because of an increased draw up the chimney. This can lead to super heating which may ignite nearby wood, cloth and other combustible. It can also lead to chimney fires which may spread to the rest of the boat as well. We have more advice on this article. |
 | Carbon monoxide - silent, unseen and deadly, more information here. Residential boaters beware of carbon monoxide The BSS is warning the most vulnerable boaters to take extra care following post mortem confirmation that two more liveaboard boaters died from carbon monoxide poisoning recently, aboard their 25ft GRP cruiser at Norbury Junction on the Shropshire Union Canal. |
