The intensity of a fire could be increased if the flow of fuel oil can't easily and
safely be stopped in the event of an emergency. To help reduce the risk of a
fire escalating, fuel oil appliances must have a valve or cock to shut off the fuel
supply. This must also be in a readily accessible position, which is at a safe
distance from the appliance. [8.7]
